Kitchen Sink Backing up? Not Draining?
If you have a garbage disposal and your kitchen sink is backed up you may be able to clear the problem yourself, if you have a two-bowl sink. First, plug the side of the sink opposite the disposal and fill that side about two/thirds full of water. Then, plug your disposal side and fill it two/thirds full of water. While holding the plug down on the side opposite the disposal, pull your disposal-side plug and turn your disposal on. This will force the water from the disposal through the drain, dislodging the blockage.
If this did not solve your problem, give us a call. We will come out and auguer your sink with our small machine for $120, or if it's a main line that's clogged (usually evident with multiple fixture lines backing up*), then we can use our large machine to clear the line for $140.
*Note: If you are on a septic system, and not the county sewer, and you have multiple fixtures backing up, you should check to see if your septic tank is full.
